Trust Bank Gambia Limited was incorporated in July 1997 and currently has 13 branches & employs approximately 238 people. TBL took over the Meridian Biao (Gambia) which had a big presence in English speaking Africa. It was listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange in November 2002. The major shareholders of the bank are Social Security & Housing Finance Corporation, DataBank of Ghana and other prominent Gambian institutions and individuals. In the year 2006, Global Finance awarded Trust Bank Ltd, Best Bank, The Gambia.

In the years of 2003, 2004 and 2005, The Banker Magazine, a subsidiary of the Financial times, awarded Trust Bank Gambia Limited, The bank of the year for The Gambia.

On the home front, The Gambia Chamber of Commerce awarded it The Bank of the year consecutively in 2003 and 2004.
